Vending machine: CViewer  2010-07-06

News:

You want to sell inworld in SecondLife and InWorldz, you can with the vending machine CViewers. The CViewer is proposed in two versions, the 4 and 6 items, and you decide to show or hide the over-text.
The CViewers can give information about your product, notecards and demos. In the near future they will also give information about the sellers. In SecondLife, sellers can also propose for sale products of others (resell products).
Customers have two different options for the payment: direct payment or from their Cariama account.





How it works:
Once you have listed your different products in Cariama’s website, even grouped them in collections and stores, you can place a CViewer at a location of your choice inworld and link it to Cariama. In the website, you select which items, collections and stores should be proposed by the CViewer, you can even decide the order of display to propose your most sold products first.



Beware: for InWorldz grid, the CBox and CViewer need to be located in the same sim.


New Features:

CBox V1.35 and CViewer V1.35 are now available in SecondLife and InWorldz.
CBox V1.35 is the new version that sets to 500 the maximum number of objects in the inventory and for the Secondlife version it has now a daily update. CViewer V1.35 is corrected from a viewing bug.
The older version will be disabled next Sunday, so please update your CBoxes and CViewers. For the CBoxes replace only the script and for the CViewers delete the old ones and place more or less at the same place the new ones and link.

Cariama has now a presence in grid InWorldz.

Two offices are open, one in sim Emsland (take a tour to get your trees and flowers) and another one in sim Pengo Siesta. InWorldz is one of the very few grids having its own currency, the I'z, which can be used within Cariama. An inworld vending machine (CViewer) that customer can pay directly will be proposed very soon.


New Features:

Cariama Website: a new button "search" just after "Principal CBox" was added in the item form, when you hit this button, the system will look for the best match between the name of your product and the free object/texture/notecard in the different CBoxes that can be linked to it. This automatic search function was also added to the XStreet import process.

Second Life: a new version V1.35 of the CBox was released. This version sets to 500 the maximum number of objects/textures/notecards that a CBox can contain, and the hourly update was replaced by a daily update since SL seems more reliable those days.

InWorldz: offices just opened.

Cariama has opened an office in OSGrid in the sim Cariama. The office is close to Cariama’s headquarters. OSGrid has about 7000 regions, unfortunately they are not all online!

The management of the Cbox and the CViewer has been changed for better usability. Now in the CBox page, when you select the link of a CBox it will display the content and not the teleport option. For teleportation, you select the "teleport" button in the right menu. You can also select the link of a CBox directly in the sell page here.
For the CViewer, the same implementation has been done.


Second Life: the most interesting marketing approach for selling goods in a virtual world like SecondLife can be found here (cynical)!

OSGrid: office just opened.

New Features :

A new monetary currency is now in use: the Cariama Dollar C$. The Cariama Dollar is pegged to the Linden Dollar L$ with an exchange rate of C$1=L$1. This currency is in use for OSGrid and 3rdRockGrid.
Why a change of currency symbol? To avoid problems with Linden Lab even if the Linden Dollar L$ has no value, as stated by them in the TOS.

Easier product listing from XStreet to Cariama  2010-05-11

News and New Feature:

What is the most annoying when you list your products from XStreet to Cariama: the copy and paste steps between both websites and that can take at least 2 to 4 minutes. In order to ease this process, a new feature was implemented: the direct importation from XStreet to Cariama. This new tool was under development since 4 weeks, before the announcement of the changes that will affect XStreet in the future, a coincidence that will help you to not loose your over 2000 characters descriptions and BBCode.

How it works: at the sell page here in the Item menu on the right, you will find a new button "import", when selected a new window will open giving you the choice of either "ID" importation or "complete" importation. For the "ID" importation, you give the XStreet’s product ID number and the import tool will only look for this product, however for the "complete" importation it will list all the products you have already listed in XStreet and you select the different products you want to import. Once selected, the import tool will copy/paste from XStreet:

  • the name of the product,
  • the price,
  • the category (please check as it will give the nearest match),
  • the permissions,
  • the description with BBCode (bold, italic, underline, color, font size, image links and urls will be automatically incorporated, but check image links and urls since it can go wrong, SURL are not incorporated)
  • and, the first 4 images are uploaded (a must have).


Then, you just need to add tags and the number of prims, set the mature status and select the appropriate object, texture and notecard in the CBox.

The ID number of a XStreet product is the number given after ItemID=, it would be 695829 for address https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=695829.

This new feature was tested with IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari, and for some unknown reasons there is a 1/10 chance that when you select the "complete" importation the list will be incomplete without the "save" button at the bottom, if it happens close the window and select again the "import" button.
It is strongly suggested when you select the "complete" importation to import 5 products each time, not more.

Second Life: LL has decided to change XStreet for … not sure what they are looking for with that!

3rd Rock Grid: the staff of 3rd Rock Grid is currently working on the implantation of a viable currency system, the economy of this grid will take advantage of this new feature.

New World Grid: a new group system is now in use and give the opportunity to have large groups.

CBox V1.3  2010-04-27


News and New Features

News:

CBox V1.3 script is a stable version and so far no problems were seen since it was proposed in the different worlds (Second Life, 3rd Rock Grid and New World Grid). The old script versions V1.1 and V1.2 will be stopped in two weeks time; therefore we ask all users of those scripts to upgrade for the version V1.3 script.

You will need to replace the script inside the CBox. Get a new Tools Package at one of the CTerminals First, you place the new CBox V1.3 near your CBox V1.x. Open the inventory of the CBox V1.3 and copy the script CBox V1.3 to your own inventory. Then, open the inventory of the CBox V1.x, delete only the script CBox V1.x and copy the new script CBox V1.3 from your own inventory. The upgraded CBox will do its own initialization and update with Cariama website.
Finaly, delete the CBox you are not using.

Suggestion: You have suggestions for Cariama, you can propose them via the new "suggestion" button which can be found in the right menu of the account page.

Emails for customers reviews: When a customer reviews one of your product after the sale, you will receive an email with the review message and you are welcome to give or not your feedback to it (example of a review and the feedback is given here).

Emails for advertisement auctions: You have bid for an advertisement and someone did a higher bid than you, you will receive an email to inform you of this situation and you are free to bid over.

News and New Features

News:

In the weekly newsletter dated March 2nd, the planning for the implementation of new tools/options was clearly indicated. This planning was followed and Phase 2 will be closed by finalizing the last two in the list.

... all those features should be implemented by mid April.


Phase 3 will focus mainly on the How To section (self-explaning texts with lots of images) and on the improvement of the displays of certain pages and windows since some layouts are not well done. By end of May, Cariama will open its Headquarters with a complete sim in OSGrid.
Thereafter, Phase 4 will start, more information in one month.

3rd Rock Grid: Wednesday April 21st, 2010, from Noon to 2pm at Cariama Office in Exchange sim (84,210,22), Kay Noble will present Cariama to the community. The week after, Tuesday April 27th, 2010, from Noon to 3pm another presentation of Cariama will take place.

New World Grid: Sunday April 24th, 2010, an update of the grid will take place, all the CTerminals and CBoxes will be down.

New Features:

Resell list: you can now list with all the interesting characteristics the different products, collections and stores used for the resell option, and remove them easily (the resell list can be found in the CViewers page); in the account page and money page, the sales made as a reseller are now given.

Favorites list: the favorites list was improved, like the resell list, the different products, collections and stores are displayed with the remove link; for the products you can add them directly to your shopping cart for an easy purchase.

CBox: your landlord sent you back all your objects because he decided to sell the land you rented (this happens frenquently those days), you can now place the returned CBox from your inventory to a new place, link it again to Cariama without loosing the connexions. This tool is functionnal for CBox V1.3, V1.2 and V1.1. However, you should be advised that all your CBoxes should have a different name, otherwise it will not work.

AdBlock problem solved  2010-04-13


News and New Features

News:

Finally the problem was solved for Firefox viewer: thx to Lycie Newman from New World Grid, she discovered that when adblock was enabled the pages of Cariama website were missing important elements, especially the menu on the right when logged in. That led to difficulties when trying to browse in the different pages of the website. The problem was related to a html class which was wrongly interpreted by adblock.
All pages of Cariama were corrected although it took some time!

Last week, the Opensim platforms 3rd Rock Grid and New World Grid were tested for deliveries reliability. Unfortunately, it is not so good than in SL. The delivery will work only if the receiver avatar is online in the grid, and it works even better when he/she is in the same sim than the CBox. Therefore, a message is now displayed when finalizing a sale for a product via Cariama Website indicating that the avatar needs to be logged in and present in certain sim:

Have you set your mature status, if not, it means that you have enabled the anti pop-up in your internet viewer. If so, you can still change your status at the page account->manage->mature button on the right menu.

New World Grid: For clarification, New World Grid is hold by an association, Virtus, which can not promote transactions involving currencies, therefore all the products for "sale" in this grid are for free: only freebies can be proposed.

New Features:

Shopping Cart: for SL products, it is now possible to group in your shopping cart the different items you want to buy and pay only once like in Amazon.

Changes for clarity: different changes have been made for clarity
  • marketplace page: the search button was made clearer,
  • top menu: the how to page was removed and can be found in the forum,
  • top menu: the advertise button that was proposed on the right menu is now at the top menu.

After 3rd Rock Grid, Cariama has entered a second Opensim world: New World Grid.
For the coming 5-6 weeks, Cariama will be present only in three worlds: SL, 3rd Rock Grid and New World Grid. Each of those world has its own specificities, SL is the original world with thousands of citizens, 3rd Rock Grid a privately owned grid and New World Grid a semi-private owned grid (if you have your own sever, you can attached your world to the grid). During this period, the stability of Cariama will be tested and when proven ok implemented in other worlds, starting with OSGrid.

New Features:

Referral Discount: for customers you have referred (friends, good buyers, or others) you can propose specific discounts on items, collections or stores in order to reward them. When you create an item, store or collection, the form to fill propose a new line with a percentage to give for the discount. For the items, the "bulk edit" proposes also the referral discount option. Furthermore, you can apply a global discount to all your products, the percentage can be given in your profile (end of the form). Important: the different referral discounts (global, store, collection and item) are cumulative.

Opensim 3rd Rock Grid was added in Cariama’s list of worlds: you can now propose and buy products in this world with Cariama.
Like with SL, if you have an avatar in 3rd Rock Grid, you list your products in Cariama and buyers can either buy via the website or Inworld at CViewers.

Via the website, you buy the products and pay with the avatar of your choice.
Inworld, you will need first to transfer funds from your SL avatar Cariama account to your 3rd Rock Grid avatar Cariama account, so your avatar in 3rd Rock Grid can pay the CViewers. The transfer window is found in the manage money page.

Kay Noble will present Cariama at 3rd Rock Grid sim Exchange on March 31st from 1pm to 3pm PDT.

New Features:

The new CViewer V1.3 is finished and proposed in the Package Tools. It took longer than expected to rewrite the script having in mind the new restrictions LL will soon apply on scripts (more info from LL here). The 4 and 6 items CViewer V1.3 have been upgraded and proposed in both versions, “Deny” and “Grand” Permission. The 10 items CViewer V1.2 is not upgraded since it has a heavy script, thus preferable to wait for the new LL limitation in order to see if it is still possible to propose this CViewer.

The referral program is launched. If you invite your friends and customers to register with Cariama, you will earn L$100 for each registration (restrictions apply).
Another way to make some easy L$.

New Features:

Referral event: you can invite your friends and customers to register with Cariama, they just need to add in the registration form your name, very simple. Also, in your profile form a new option was added that enables you to propose for all your products a discount to your referred friends and customers. Maybe a good opportunity to pass to your customers the 5% percent you are losing with Xstreet! In the future other options will be proposed for your list of referred customers.

New CTerminal: when you have a CTerminal on your location, you can now customize the text and the image that are displayed in the CTerminals page, and Inworld you can propose your own message that will be given when a customer hit the "info" button in the dialog box.
